While it's crucial to have sturdy leadership to prepare and mobilize the group towards that goal, there may be often a singular particular person on any successful group who's the glue that holds the rest of the group together, the backbone that gives stability, the one who helps facilitate everyone elseâs contributions to the higher entire. At National Able Network (Able), our âglue,â our âspine,â our âfacilitatorâ is Ms. Yolande Hicks! Yolande is shortly approaching a special milestone: her 20-year-anniversary at Able! Yolande first got here to Able in 1995 as a consumer of Ableâs former temporary staffing program. After receiving a couple of temp assignments, she was eventually provided a full-time pl ace as an Administrative Assistant at Able helping purchasers develop their resumes and cover letters. Yolande jokes that so much has changed since back then: âI used to use a regular IBM typewriter that didnât even have correction tape!â When requested about a few of her favorite moments at Able, Yolande remembers the time that she was nominated for the Claude D. Pepper Award for Distinguished Service at the Outstanding Worker Award Luncheon in 1998. Yolande went on to say that she was shocked that she was so esteemed by her friends and was shocked when she truly won. It is that this dedication and humility that defines Yolande for anybody who has had the pleasure of working with her via the years. Yolande is held in such high regard, that she is often referred to as âChairman Hicksâ by Ableâs Executive Staff, together with President & CEO of Able, Grace Powers. If requested how she got this nickname, Yolande coyly smiles, offers her signature giggle, and modestly repli es, âI donât why, but when one thing arises, folks come to me . . . regardless of what it's.â Yolande routinely solutions questions and resolves points with professionalism and compassion for clients and workers members alike. Now, as an Executive Assistant approaching her anniversary, when asked if she will still be at Able in twenty extra years, Yolande answered in her regular selfless method: âWell, I hope so as a result of which means our packages are still good, and persons are being helped.â It is in these moments that Yolande reveals why she is so important to the general success of our group, as she all the time puts the company and our clients first. We have a proficient and dedicated group and exemplary leadership at Able, however a part of what has made our organization nice during the last twenty years are the countless, invaluable contributions that Yolande has made to our collective efforts! Congratulations, âMissâ Yolande, and hereâs to the subsequent twenty! One touch upon âCelebrating Two Decades of National Able Networkâs MVP! â I had the privilege of getting to know Ms. Hicks throughout an agency wide convention at out Downtown Chicago Lake Street location. I had typically seen her strolling backwards and forwards finishing up numerous duties during my three week tenure at that location, however it was not until the convention that I got a chance to meet and engage her in dialog. It was a pleasure to talk to her she has a calmness about her that comes via in every state of affairs; nothing seems to get the better of her and I assume that is the mark of a true professional.
